Gong bassist meets Swans drummer and Laswell keyboardist for experimental ambient avant rock improv.
Featuring Swans, Prong, Godflesh, Killing Joke, and Jesu drummer Ted Parsons(USA), Gong/Steve Hillage/Bill Nelson/Harold Budd bassist Dave Sturt(UK) and keyboardist Roy Powell(UK) known for his work with InterStatic/Anthony Braxton/Mumpbeak with Bill Laswell.
Ted Parsons has been the propulsive force behind some of the heaviest music of the ’80s and ’90s, including experimental rockers Swans; metalcore upstarts Prong; and industrial-rock cult heroes Godflesh. (He has also lent his talents to Killing Joke, Jesu, and electronic dub outfit Teledubgnosis.)
Dave Sturt’s interest in music began with experiments in sound design with tape loops, tape effects and found sounds. He began performing in 1979 with bands around the North East of England and worked in various genres including pop, rock, reggae and jazz, later developing an interest in the fretless bass.
In 1982 he moved to London and soon broke into the session scene working alongside film composer Michael Kamen, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, Roxy Music drummer Andy Newmark and David Bowie sideman Earl Slick amongst others.
Roy Powell has been a member of the group InterStatic with Jacob Young, and Jarle Vespestad, and the group Naked Truth with Lorenzo Feliciati, Pat Mastelotto, and Graham Haynes. He recorded the album Mumpbeak with Feliciati, Mastelotto, Bill Laswell, Tony Levin, and Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz.
